CONGRATULATIONS TO CHAD GALLIGOS FOR HIS SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF HIS CLASS 1 DRIVERS LICENSE

As a part of our Indigenous Engagement Strategy – Nation Building – Career Development, A&A Trading reached out to the Tla’amin Nation about opportunities to collaborate on career development or programs. Adam Culos (General Manager – Thichum Forest Products) suggested that training a nation member to drive a logging truck would be beneficial and that the successful applicant may have a position waiting with Thichum upon completion of the required training. A&A worked with Adam to source funding and selected Chad Galligos from several applicants to receive training towards a Class 1 driver’s license.

During the summer of 2023, Chad completed eight weeks of training, culminating in his successful exam on October 31st, 2023. Funding for the course was sourced by A&A through the North Vancouver Island Aboriginal Training Society, with travel costs split between the Tla’amin Nation and A&A Trading. Chad will begin working with Thichum by driving a dump truck and will eventually work towards driving a logging truck in the future.
