GIS Analyst

Location: Campbell River, BC

A&A Trading Ltd. (A&A) is currently seeking a proactive initiative taker with a strong attention to detail to fill the role of GIS Analyst based out of our Campbell River, BC office.

As the GIS Analyst, you will be fully integrated into the planning and development of our tenure management areas.  This position will focus on the administration, maintenance, distribution, and end-user support of applications using spatial data relating to land and natural resources.

A&A Trading Ltd. is a privately owned coastal forestry company with offices in Vancouver and Campbell River. We have been operating throughout BC on our own tenures and with numerous partners for over 40 years.

Your Key Responsibilities include  :

    • Creating, updating, and managing geospatial layers and tabular information using a variety of software platforms
    • Analyzing, interpreting, and integrating data from multiple sources
    • Developing, implementing, and maintaining systems and databases to access and store geospatial data
    • Designing and developing data workflows and quality control procedures
    • Creating maps, map templates, summaries and visualizations to support the GIS needs of our staff and clients

Your Knowledge, Skills and Abilities include:

    • Effectively communicating with non-technical staff, to recommend and describe complex GIS techniques and analytical methods
    • Demonstrating systematic approaches to problem-solving, organization and time management
    • Experience in forestry-related GIS on crown lands in BC, with a focus on operational and development mapping, as well as higher-level tenure management.
    • Ability to provide routine IT support and troubleshooting

Your Technical Qualifications include:

    • 5+ years of experience with ESRI Software Suite (ArcPro, ArcGIS Online)
    • A degree or diploma in Geographic Information Systems, Natural Sciences (Forestry or Geography), Computer Science or related field, plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, preferably in a forestry or natural resource sector
    • Automation and programming skills using Python, Model Builder
    • Skills in database management using SQL Server
    • Experience working with LiDAR point cloud and raster data, ortho imagery
    • Experience with 3D visualizations

Salary Range: $75,000 + annually
