Healthy Forests
Are Our Business

A&A Trading has voluntarily formalized our commitment to sustainable forest management and environmental stewardship, through company policies and third-party, globally recognized forest management, environmental, and chain of custody certifications.

A&A Trading has collaborated with our partners to develop cultural and environmental best practices on our operations that go far beyond legislative requirements and minimum certification standards, e.g., enhanced Ecosystem-Based Management, culturally informed stewardship practices, and consultation practices that prioritize community and Indigenous values.

Setting the bar high with our Certification Standards

To ensure that sustainable forest management and environmental performance is achieved and the risks from operations to the environment are minimized, A&A Trading has developed and implemented a Sustainable Forest Management Plan (SFMP) and Environmental Management System (EMS) consistent with the EMS International Standard (ISO 14001:2015) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative Forest Management Standard (SFI 2022 FMS).

In addition, A&A Trading maintains a chain of custody consistent with the standards as set by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC 2020) that ensures that the logs we sell originate from sustainably managed forests.

To remain ISO, SFI and PEFC certified a commitment is required from all levels within the organization, including top management through to those implementing the programs on the ground. This commitment is verified through quarterly reviews and annual internal and external third party audits.

A&A Trading’s British Columbia Woodlands operations on the Sunshine Coast, Vancouver Island, Terrace and Haida Gwaii are managed to be consistent with standards as set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 14001:2004) and to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Standard (SFIS – 2022).
