Derek is originally from Nova Scotia and graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 2019 with a BScF. After working as a summer student each year in Western Canada, Derek knew the West Coast is where he wanted to start his career. Following graduation, he started his career and began articling as an Forester in Training (FIT). There he gained experience working in the Great Bear Rainforest  with numerous Indigenous employees and Nation members. 

In 2021 Derek joined the A&A team. Derek is responsible for shift planning and mapping, road designs and permit applications, contractor management and safety, cutting permit development, and PHARM data collection and engaging directly with our partners and clients. Derek is motivated, outgoing, and a positive individual to be around. 

Outside of work you can find Derek biking, skiing or surfing.
